Loved the way it is organized month-by-month - not surprisingly - as that's what the title suggests! Great interior layout of three columns... and nicely illustrated too. (I have the paperback edition).

So to put a date on "finished" isn't really fair, but I didn't want to say I was "still reading" it either! Obviously it's a super reference book.

The only sad thing is, I haven't utilized it!
Why?
Too busy doing other stuff... that's my best lousy excuse.

Gardening in FL is very counter-intuitive, but Tom MacCubbin is here to help! This book is divided into sections by plant types, then into what to do each month. There are also lists of plants and varieties that do well in FL, and when to plant in each section of FL. Very, very easy to use and understand. While not an "organic growing" book, it does include alternatives to chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Thanks to this book I finally harvested some tomatoes after 3 years of failure! Basically, a good book to have around to find out why everything planted seems to die when planted in Florida. Has to do with trying to plant non-native plants generally. This books helps plan activities to try to keep plants alive in Florida gardens.

I bought this book to decide which plants my landscaper was going to put in my yard. I wanted a low maintenance yard. I needed to know how to take care of it after it was done. This is a great book for Florida.

I'm just at the stage when this book is really coming in handy. Now that I've started planting plants, it's helpful to look every month and see if it is okay to plant, whether anything needs fertilizer, deadheading or pruning. This is a must have book for the Florida gardener. It holds a place of honor on my book shelves and is referenced frequently. I have a decent garden thanks to this book.
